The Middleman - A native of Wabasha, MN, Tim grew up near the river, and has made commercial fishing for bottom feeders a career. In addition to spending time on the water, Tim manages the local fish market in town, processing and shipping fish for Schafer’s Fish Market. As the “Middleman,” Tim sees commercial fishing from both sides of the desk. When not fishing commercially, Tim loves spending time on the water with family and friends, and also chases whitetail with a stick and string, turkeys in the spring, and fishes numerous walleye tournaments on the Mississippi.
The Scrapper - Mike is a life-long river rat. Growing up near Lacrosse, Wisconsin, Mike’s life has been spent on the river. Early in his career he dove for fresh water pearls in the Mississippi. When that market dried up, his brother Rick introduced him to commercial fishing. As Mike will tell you, he is a strong family man that works hard to provide for them, but his first love is the river. When the fishing gets tough, Mike works odd jobs to make ends meet – from welding and selling scrap metal, to harvesting and selling wild ginseng during the fall ginseng season. Mike is a scrapper, and he will do whatever it takes to take care of the one’s he loves.
Hailing from Cambridge, MN, Jeff Riedemann is an outdoorsman at heart. After nearly 10 years in the Army Reserves, Jeff turned his passion for fishing into a full-time career as a commercial fisherman. His enjoyment for being on the water grew by the minute and Jeff is still chasing the “big haul” every day. When he isn’t on the job, Jeff and his wife relish bear hunting and other outdoor activities. No matter the outing, you won’t find Jeff far from the great outdoors.
Part friend, part foe, Rick is Mike’s brother, and the two share a love/hate relationship. Rick introduced Mike to commercial fishing, and ever since the two have been on-again, off-again fishing partners. With a unique dynamic to their relationship, Mike and Rick always provide a level of tension on the show.
The Market Man - Originally from Waterloo, Iowa, Jeff Ritter fell in love with the “River Rat” life as a boy near Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin. Fishing and hunting were staples for the Ritter family and Jeff quickly took to the tradition. Hints of commercial fishing arose very early in Jeff’s life as he went door to door selling catfish from his bicycle that he caught from the Ole Miss. Today we find Jeff still hard at it, making a living in the world of commercial fishing – now running his own small fish sales business, and although he may have replaced his bicycle with a commercial van, the challenges of filling orders and selling what you catch have not changed – as the business has grown so have the challenges. To escape from all of this, Jeff pursues competitive bass fishing and bowhunting when he’s not working the nets.
