Hello, I am Brian Clince and I live here in Westcliffe, Colorado. I was just going to take a moment and shout out about what’s happening on the ice here in the Wet Mountain Valley, Lake De Weese and the high lakes in the Sangre De Christo Mountains. The small mouth bass stocked a few years ago are really coming into good numbers as well as the Kokannee Salmon, stocked last year are coming up nice. They both hitting on the Chartreuse wax worms on a red tungsten jig. I have had good luck with the Kokannee on Airplane jigs. It doesn't matter what you throw on the end of them, the action brings them in. The Tiger Muskie have been hitting red number 12 hooks with a Berkley Gulp Minnow Head on it. The trout are still working the Pualtzkie Yellow Salmon Eggs and we are having fun. The high lakes have been a more difficult go of it just because of the wind of late. Though, the real experience lies in snowshoeing in with a hand crank ice auger. The good part about the high lakes is those trout are going to hit just about anything you have in your tackle box for this season. For those who can really appreciate the flavor of a pan sized cut-throat, this is where you want to be. The Ice Fishing Season is a good one this year, just wanted to let everyone know.
