Greatest Fishing Tips

Safety, Safety and one more Safety.
It does not matter how you are fishing but you should keep your Safety in mind at all times. For us Kayakers at minimum, a PFD , a light, a whistle and a communication device! Let somebody know where you planning on fishing. Do not fish alone if you are new to the Sport. Keep an Eye on the Weather, things can change fast. No bait in the world is going to help you if you find yourself in trouble. For Kayakers it is a good idea to practice self rescue under different weather conditions.
There are other things to keep in mind. During the summer, hydration and sunscreen come to mind.
No matter if you fish from shore, a boat or a kayak, leave the alcohol at home. You are not safe if you are impaired .I could give you some great advice on how to catch some great game fish but I do feel that none of that is important if you are not safely enjoying our sport.

So my best and greatest fishing advice is: Stay safe and make sure safety stays on your mind, while you catching that Trophy Fish

However also managed to get my gold diamond fish pendent repaired. The diamonds keep falling out. Brief Tackle Review- Marsh Works products

For the record, I tend not to be a big product pusher. However this time I am rather impressed. This tackle by Marsh Works helped me catch my personal best Red Drum's, not one but two. Rather nice healthy large deep red fellow 's , over 26 inches. We measured the second one just because he was big, 27.5 inches! Personal record fish The jig head is the same one I fished with the last two

Catchin' for kids. Club challenge Tournament. TKAA did well

While it is fresh in my mind I thought I write briefly about a tournament I fished yesterday. I am a current paid active member of TKAA . Tidewater Kayak Anglers Association www.tkaa.org As such I was eligible to fish as a club member. This was my first time fishing this event and this was the first time TKAA had a female Angler present. I for my part was a bit nervous at the beginning of

Top 5 items in my tackle box

Once again because we Kayak fish, I better make sure that I have everything I need when I leave.  1. Pleny of hooks 2. Plenty of plastics / artificials ( I tend not to fish with bait) 3. Extra line 4.Good pair of Fishgrips, I like the plastic one because they reduce injury to the fish. ( Catch, release and do it again) 5.Good pair pliers with line cutters.   I probably could go

Where do I fish ?

Living in Virginia Beach we have many choices of Water. Chesapeake Bay, the Atlantic Ocean, many fresh Water Lakes. Hands down I would have to say Lynnhaven River complex . Inshore fishing at it's best .Large tidal body of water with a boat channel and at it's mouth the door to the Bay. Depending on the Tide, Eastern or Western Branch are my main choices . From my house to the Kayak Ramp,

Hello my name is Kirsten but nobody ever calls me that unless I did something wrong, so Kris is just fine :) I love to fish, prefered method is from a Kayak. But you will not catch me turning down any oppertunity to fish. Fresh or Salt, Flyfishing .... most of the time I fish with artificial lures. Freshwater is a bit more frustrating to me and I will resort to worms here and there. It is important to me to get others involved or interested in the sport. So I spend part of my time volunteering my time at events.
