Good Luck Crossville, TN as the Ultimate Fishing Town!

Posted On March 05, 2011

The City of Crossville is an ultimate fishing town for many reasons. Known as the Golf Capitol of Tennessee because of it’s many world class gold courses the area attracts golfers from all over the world, however the golf courses all contain another treasure, fish stocked lakes and ponds.

These fisheries also attract anglers to the resort communities of Crossville. Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Crappie, Perch, Musky, Walleye and many more species of game fish are found in our clear mountain water.

                Fairfield Glade                                                         Lake Tansi

The city is situated atop the Cumberland Plateau amidst the headwaters of the Obed River, which slices a scenic gorge north of Crossville en route to its confluence with the Emory River to the northeast.

Several mountain lakes are located on the outskirts of Crossville, including 11 lakes in the Fairfield Glade Community, The largest lake in the area, Lake Tansi and Mohawk Lake to the south.

Lake Holiday to the west, Meadow Park Lake, Lake Breckinridge and nearby Byrd Lake which is located in beautiful Cumberland Mountain State Park.

Crossville is the home of the Regional Office of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency

The location is great, giving their officers and biologist a useful central office located in the center of the Upper Cumberland Region with access to its three major lakes, Dale Hollow Lake, Center Hill Lake and Watts Barr and the many lakes all near by.  Which protects and cares for the wonderful fishing!

Crossville is also home of Redemption Outdoors, the inventors of the Smack-N-Shad lure that gained fame when featured in Bassmaster magazine in May of 2010.

The city is truly angler friendly and is home of Bass clubs, Crappie and Pan fish clubs as well as FLW pro fishermen including Tim Wyatte and  Kibby McCoy and many other competition anglers that make the area their home.

Given the chance and some publicity the city could easily become a fishing haven for the many tourist that visit the many time share resorts, RV Parks and Campgrounds in the area. Located on Interstate 40 between Nashville and Knoxville Tennessee the city is a great place to stop for travelers heading to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park that is under two hours away.

The $25,000.00 donation could be used to promote the area as a world class fishing town, improvements to public fishing areas with things such as fishing line recycling receptacles, repairs and improvements to fishing peers.

And most important of all, to make the annual kids free fishing day even more spectacular and fun for the children, hooking the future of our sport. The event is sponsored by the city and local businesses every year at Meadow Park Lake.
