Lake Fork Day One and Two
We arrived around 7 AM Monday after the Mega Bass Tournament. We checked into the motel  Popes Landing. Then grabbed quick bite to eat then hit the water.

Day one we went into Little Mustang creek trying to figure out what stage the bass where in  and depth, We started in the back 1/3 of the creek Nanda and Rand Stack caught a few fish and me one hit on a Zombie shad. We relocated to mid creek and went shallow Randy  landed a nice fish but no other bites we relocated to Mustang with no other bites.

After dinner we had a strategy session?

2nd day We had decided to start out in 25 feet on a point leading into spawning grounds, we found the bait fish with the new HDS 7 (more later) but no fish (c-rig) we worked our way to shore, I started out with a T-rig worm nothing 2.5 hours into it I remembered there is a time of year that the most all the  fish are on shore whether to eat , to spawn or to get a sun tan. So I went weight less senko green pumpkin   T-rig without a weight. About fifteen minutes later first two fish then a few more the rest of the day we  caught fish in less than 2.5 feet of water Nanda also got some really nice fish on a Stanley 1/8 vibra shaft spinner bait. All and all we caught 30 fish  Randy was using a wacky rig senko  Sometimes there where doubles and even one triple  so one great day, smallest 3 pounds largest about 7.5 pounds

Now to my equipment Castaway Skeleton in the college series MH 7 foot  with a Diawa  Zillion  braid line with InvisX leader. Daiichi2/0 bleeding bait hook

The castaway Skeleton rod preformed flawless one the best rods I own this particular one is Maroon and white.

Daiichi2/0 bleeding bait hook hitch hiker the red made a difference in the bite  I wore the red off one hook put a new one back on right back to catching fish.

I got several new reels this winter and man Diawa zillion with the skeleton is a rig that is easy to fish all day

Segar Fluorocarbon InvisX line is some great stuff I winched a 6 lb out of a brush pile and  it is my favorite line

Last but not least my Flying fisherman sunglass style Polaris the best glass I have ever owned and that is saying a lot

Shirley Creek Marina

Shirley Creek Marina Since Nanda and I go to some great fishing destinations, I decided to write also about the places we stayed. The Good and the bad. Shirley’s Creek Marina has the usual docks and stalls that you can rent but Nanda and I have always parked in front of our room. It was a little tight on that aspect especially if you had it full of boats.   The ramp is

Day 5 @ Sam Rayburn

Day 5 @ Sam Rayburn Wind was light but Nanda and I decided to start on the same stretch as the last 4 days. We caught a few but not as many as the previous 4 days.  This ¼ mile stretch of bank had produced somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 fish plus what Randy Stack had also caught. There is several reasons for this but mainly cover and bait fish.  If you did not make

Day 4 @ Sam Rayburn

Day 4 @ Sam Rayburn The Day started off just as the previous day Fog and a late start but this time Rat-L-trap time from the start and great results, the only thing I had to do different was to bang it off the trees in the grass and lots of bites. Encase you missed the other articles the trap was a Zombie shad in Rayburn Red . I was asked why the red Zombie. Here is my reasoning:1. FLW

Day 3 @ Sam Rayburn

Day 3 @ Sam Rayburn The previous night a cool front brew through about 10 PM 10 minutes of high wind and rain but the next morning fog it was so thick it was 8 am before we ventured out. It was so thick I could not see the front of the boat thanks tree tops and GPS I made it across Shirley’s creek. Randy was in front trees, GPS of us and I hoped he did not stop till shore. As Randy later

Day 2 @ Sam Rayburn

Day 2 @ Sam Rayburn Larry and Jake drove up from Houston TX to fish with us but as fate would have it the wind were against us 25mph + out of the south.  So we fished the protected area around Shirley’s creek Fall had started to turn the trees and colors where great Larry’s boat forced him to leave early, his water pump was not working properly it was a shame,
