Well, its been a while since my last entry - I've been really busy! My soft plastic business has kept me working late nights and early mornings! However, I have gotten away to do some fishing between seminars at bass clubs and other promos. Most recently, Karl Kalonka and I went fishing a couple of Kawartha Lakes this week to film walleye episodes.
Walleye are always a fan favorite. While we are known as bass pros, the truth is we love to fish period! Bass season in Southern Ontario doesn't open until late June, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy some of the many other species in Ontario! There is something really cool about dropping a well placed grub or hair-jig on a weedline and feeling that unmistakable tap of a walleye! Funny how I hear about walleye not liking sunny bluebird weather, or the old saying "you have to fish for them at night!" Sure they bite great at night, but you can catch them all-day long by using the right techniques and presentations. In two days of filming we must have caught over eighty walleye! Most came in eight to twelve feet of water, using a variety of jigs. You'll have to catch the shows on WFN this up-coming season to get the details, but if you like a hands-on approach to walleye fishing with lots of tips and information, you won't be disappointed! As for gear, St.Croix Extreme Series 6'8" medium action rod matched with an Ardent 2500 spinning reel got the job done. Coupled with 10 lb Spiderthread Braid, I could feel even the slightest of bites!
Tomorrow it's off to Lake Simcoe on a guide trip with a couple from Kentucky. I plan on introducing them to a few of Simcoe's whitefish and lake-trout. I enjoy the excitement on peoples faces when they catch fish!
On a side note, my good friend and Strike-Zone pro-staffer, Paul Castellano from Cast-Adventures in Niagara, boated his personal best smallmouth bass last weekend - a 7.6 pounder caught on my new Mini-Slammer on Lake Erie. To think I was all excited when my first three smallies on that bait were over five pounds!
If you're looking for a trip on Simcoe for whitefish, laketrout, pike and perch before the bass season opens, be sure to drop me a line! - strikezonetackle@yahoo.ca

Well, it's been a while since my last post and so much has gone on!
My fishing luer business has had an amazing year! I have the anglers across N.America to thank for that! We are going into 2011 with an awesome team of anglers in both Canada and the USA, I'm proud to have 2 BASS Elite anglers on team Strikezone Travis Manson of Wisconsin and Matt Greenbatt of Florida! It truly is a dream to compete at this level and I wish Travis and Matt all the best
The weather is cooling down, but the amazing fall bass fishing is heating up!
Keep fishing until the last minute because you never know what the next cast will bring.
