A START TO THE 2012 SEASON

I know its only the end of January but the weather have been above noral just about all winter long, like today the temp was 68 degrees and its call for the same tomorrow. The water is still somewhat cold, still in the 30's maybe the low 40's, so me and Eric took a trip to the pond for some early fishing. Sadly to say we didn't catch anything or get a nibble but to us is was a chance to get outside and to the water.

Her first

We decided to go back to the pond this evening, but only with my oldest son and his daughter, hoping that maybe the crappie were still biting.  After about 4 or 5 cast and a little waiting my grand  daughter did get one bite and caught her bvery first crappie, it was small but to her it was huge.

Ultimate Fishing Town

Id like to submit the town of Leesburg Virginia as an ultimate fishing town. We have no major rivers or lakes in or close to town, the closest river is the Potomac River, the closest inpoundment is Beaverdam, the closest Lake is Lake Anna. The reason im submitting Leesburg is because of the ponds in and around Leesburg, although one was closed by a HOA. The ponds here have catfish, largemouth

Fly-Fishing

Not to much to say about fly fishing, except for I have watched my grandfather fly fishing in very skinny streams surrounded by trees on each bank, when I was a kid. It always amazed me on how he could keep hitting the watcher and not the trees. Im a 66yo guy that loves fishing in any body of water I can get too. Im also a member of FLW and fish with the BFL. I've taken great pride in teaching my sons and daughter about fishing and the outdoors, now I'm teaching my grandkids about fishing and the outdoors. Have finally got my oldest grandaughter back to fishing again after a couple years of not going with us, which makes me happy to have her back. I also now have 3 grandkids that Im trying to teach them about fishing and the outdoors.
