A September to remember

Posted On September 29, 2011

In Eastern Canada, September is the time most tournament anglers look forward to the most. This year we had two of Canada’s biggest tournaments took the same body of water- the famed Lake St Francis.

The Renegade Bass Classic came first and the top 40 teams from the Renegade Bass tournament series battled it out for a  fully-rigged Ranger Z-119 bass boat powered by a 200 HP Evinrude E-tec engine and boasting high-end electronics from Lowrance and a Motorguide trolling motor. The two day event had great bags of both small and largemouth bass with the team of Duane Clifton and Dave Western taking home the trophy and the grand prize with a 2 day weight of 42.40 pounds! This past weekend, the Berkley B1 rolled back into Valleyfield, Quebec and 144 teams from all over Canada and the US competed for over $125,000 in cash and prizes. Locals Jason Gramada and Nicolas Gendron found a great pattern and weighed in 48.02 pounds, which included a 6.53 pound giant. Congrats to everyone who participated !

If you are new to the sport of fishing many Provinces offer " Family Fishing Weekends" where you are not required to have a license to get out and enjoy a day on the water. It is a great way to introduce kids and meet other anglers. Make sure you read your regulations guide as regular rules apply. Here is a list of license free periods in Eastern Canada in 2012 Quebec- June 10-12 P.E.I -
