I always look around for other blogs on fishing locations around the city of Fort McMurray but never can i find any! I've come to the conclusion that there simply aren't any. So Ill begin. There are many great places to fish up here. Im just gonna start off with a quick blog because I am about to check out my favourite spot in town! The mouth of the horse river and athabasca river is an amazing place for walleye. Ill spend about an hour and a half down there and catch about 8 or 9 walleye with the odd pike. The walleye i pull out are always great sizes, usually around 7 to 10 pounds and the pike I sometimes grab can be anywhere between 10 and 15 pounds. The best lures to use is the blue fox jig, a pickerel rig or just any simple jig works to. Best times to go are around 9am and 9pm and its about 8am now so I'm off to grab me some fish!
The Snye
I just heard from a good buddy of mine that the Snye at around 10pm is a great spot! Lots of Walleye, Goldeye and a bit of pike! Best thing to use is live minnow on a pickerel rig. Im heading down there tonight to check it out for myself!
