Anticipation of Spring and a Few Memories...

Posted On January 29, 2012

While leaving the grocery store located in a small mall my thoughts turned to a time of warmer weather and a few fishing memories as the piles of snow were still ever present in the parking lot.  Yes, it is only the tail end of January but as stated earlier my thoughts were turning to warmer weather and thoughts of some fond fishing memories.

This was an event a couple of years ago in the tidal area on the Delaware River.  Dubbed "Border Wars" it was a competition of carp anglers from New Jersey going up against Pennsylvania anglers.  It was the first competion of this nature.  If memory serves me correctly us Pennsylvania anglers blanked the New Jersey anglers 4 fish to zero.  It was definitely a warm day and one that will be embedded in my memory for the rest of my life.

Next my thoughts turned to those of fly fishing with traditional equipment in the Spring of the year.

Any thoughts of Spring would not be complete without thinking about wildflowers blooming.  This Trilliam came to my mind.

It seems as though every time my thoughts turn to fishing My memory goes back to when my dad was still living and we used to go fishing on "headboats" mostly out of Wildwood, New Jersey.

Then there's the ever prevelent memory of my son's first flounder caught on a 4 hour "headboat".

Cherish all of your angling memories in life and remember to take the time to make as many memories as you can because memories really do last a lifetime.  Thank you for reading and tight lines everyone!

Bumbles, Fumbles and Backlashes

We have all experienced "Those Days" in our fishing times.  You know the kind of day where nothing at all seems to go right and the harder you try, the worse that it gets.  It may start out innocently enough as having trouble closing the car door only to find that the reason there is a problem is because you just broke your favorite rod while trying to close the car door.  You tell

Artificial Bait for Carp

Sure as the statement "Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus,"there is a product line of artificial baits for those of us who pursue carp.  They seem to perform very well also!  On more occassions that can be remembered (old-timers disease) we have caught carp using this line of fake baits. The baits come in a variety of shapes and carp pleasing flavors to choose from.  Some
