A Photo Tip

Posted On January 29, 2012
Often we as anglers want to memorialize the moment of the catch in a photograph.  Many times we snap the photograph without regard to the position of the sun on the subject.  (It happens in the heat of the moment).  With this one simple tip we can make those siloette photos turn into pictures that anyone can recognize the subject.
That tip is to use your flash even on sunny days.  Snap one quick photo without the flash, then another using the flash.  This technique is called "fill flash" and works on lighting up the areas that would normally be in the shadows..  Try it and see if this makes a difference in your pictures.  Understanding the effective distance of your flash is important to this technique,  Your owners manual to the camera will give you this information.  Tight lines and good photographs!

Here is a typical "back lit" photograph.  Fill flash would have made it a much better image.

In this image fill flash was used.  Notice how the subject matter is more recognizable.  It does make a difference.

"Fill flash" can even be used on scenic shots to add color to the foreground of a photograph.  The possibilities are endless.

Bumbles, Fumbles and Backlashes

We have all experienced "Those Days" in our fishing times.  You know the kind of day where nothing at all seems to go right and the harder you try, the worse that it gets.  It may start out innocently enough as having trouble closing the car door only to find that the reason there is a problem is because you just broke your favorite rod while trying to close the car door.  You tell

Artificial Bait for Carp

Sure as the statement "Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus,"there is a product line of artificial baits for those of us who pursue carp.  They seem to perform very well also!  On more occassions that can be remembered (old-timers disease) we have caught carp using this line of fake baits. The baits come in a variety of shapes and carp pleasing flavors to choose from.  Some
