Top Five fishing spots in or Around Chatham Ontario , IT's about Fishing!!

How does ones tell about local hotspots when you Live In southern Ontario? Lets start with The Thames River with ice fishing, and spring fishing for walleye. The winter we use jigging rapalas tipped with minnows, and the spring, twister tails and shad bodies, your favorite lures cast from shore  or trolled in a small boat, above or below rapids.  The Thames runs right through Chatham, is a muddy river that hides its treasures.

We have to look at Mitchells bay, on the edge of Lake St. Clair. We ice fish for perch as soon as the ice is thick enough for the Quads and snow mobiles. \the spring set us to Perch and walleye, trolling slow or casting in the lake water. Come summer, The bass and, pike, and some of the best Muskie fishing in the World. The Bay is only 20 mins from Chatham

Perhaps at the top of our list is Erieau, A party village with a fishing problem. A 25 Minute ride from Chatham , on the sandy shoal between Lake Erie and Rondeau Bay, You Ice fish the Bay during Winter, Then You get out early spring and fish the bay with minnows for perch. April brings the night game of looking for smelt, usually the end of April, waders and nets, with some patience, and you can fill frying pans the rest of the year.

I am fairly sure that Mr. Bob Izumi can attest to the fishing in Lake Erie, and anytime he or Marika want to visit an old haunt, we would gladly hide them and sneak them out on our boat, the target being Our fantastic Walleye fishing in Lake Erie. We all love walleye, it's too bad we have to catch 5 to 15 lb steel-head  with the same gear and set-up that catches the walleye, trolling lure and spoons, dipseys, planer boards, down-riggers or lead line,  wear your sunscreen and try it. no better fishery anywhere.

And for the final in my Top Five, wow, do I choose the mouth of the Thames for fall fishing muskie from shore or by boat, or the Maitland and Ausable rivers a few hours north for spring and fall, trout and salmon fishing. We could talk of Lake Ontario, 30 pound king salmon all summer long.  Oh Wait, Lest go to Jeanettes Creek, and get our fill of crappie ....
