My large Mouth Bass weighing 11.5 lbs, caught at moss bluff on the Oakalwaha river Florida. It was about   7:30 am  early spring 1981. I was shiner fishing on the back side of a little cove on the river With standing cypress trees. While fishing with an old friend I lowered the shiner in and under some vegetation, before I could set the rod in its holder the bass hit hard. It took a few minutes to get it to the boat, My friend reached out to land it for me and said " holy cow" well a little more colorful then that. I need a net he yelled, he reached around picked up the net and slipped it under the fish at the same time the hook broke. We managed to get it in the boat and put her in the live well. we fished for about 10 minutes and could not stand it,  we had to know how much she weighed. We set off for the fish camp a short ride down the river. We put her on the scales and could no believe our eyes Eleven lbs 8 ounces. I have been looking for my pictures of that day with no luck but if your are ever in Moss Bluff, Fl. My pic is still on the wall of that fish camp, at  least the  the last time I was there 5 years ago.

Fishing Wolfs Bay today.

The bite was slow with the wind blowing out of the south about 15 mph. Once I found spots protected from the wind things started happening. Managed to catch a few reds with one being in slot at 24". The only thing I could get them to bite on today was live shrimp under a popping cork. Sure hope the wind will colm down soon.

Greatest day fishing.

My greatest day fishing has to be when I took my dad fishing for the first time. Haven't seen him in 15 years when he came to visit. I took him grouper fishing it happened to be his first time fishing in the gulf of Mexico. We set out at 6:00 am from ceder key for a 50 minute ride to the grouper grounds. I was the teacher that day as my dad had never fished in his life. By the end of the day

Getting ready for the fishing season.

Well we have a very short off season, but can  fish all year. Most of my fishing is in mobile bay, wolfs bay and the Lower mobile delta. . Been catching sheepshead on the gas rigs in the bay, some specs on the flats. also have been catching some bass in the delta.

Trout are starting to move out on the flats.

The water in mobile bay is warming up and the spec's are moving out on the flats. its still a little spotty but have seen some nice fish on popping corks and live shrimp. I like the raige tail shrimp on a popping cork, it seems to work real well for me. Keep a eye out for my blogs as thing starts to get hot.
