No Fishing Lately..but Boondoggle Coming Soon!

Posted On February 03, 2012
Well, I haven't been able to get out and fish lately.  I've had a lot going on lately, including school.  Finally out of school for a little bit, and a trip or two is in the near future.  First, I will heading out in the next week or so to catch up on some local fishing.  But what I'm really looking forward to is the Chokoloskee Boondoggle with yakangler.com
We'll be heading down to Chokoloskee, FL (around the 10,000 islands area) to do some kayak fishing in a couple of weeks.  The countdown is on, and I'm very excited.  I'm hoping to add at least one of my 2012 target species to my catch list...that being either a snook or tarpon.  I would like to catch a shark from the kayak too, and I know that is another option while we're there.  I will have a new post up in the weeks to follow about the trip.

Superbowl Sunday Fishing

Well...I got a little time in between church and the superbowl to take the yak out fishing again today.  I was the only one in the creek other than the birds and the fish.  I got out for about 3 hours, and that was good for me since the lunar charts showed the time I was out was also a major feeding period.  I paddled in at low tide and fished from the back of the creek to the

Great New Tide Table and Lots of Good Information

I have found a great new tide table at Tides4Fishing The one I use is here though - Florida-east-coast The table shows the time of sun rise and sun set, and the time and position of moon rise and moon set. It shows the high and low tides for the day with times and positions. It also shows the tidal coefficient, which is the difference in height between the consecutive high tides and low

Fishing on 1/29

Got out on the water this past Saturday...finally.  The weather was excellent.  Started out in shorts with a hoodie, and was able to take off the hoodie around 12.  It warmed up to about 64 degrees, little wind, and smooth water.  The water temp is still pretty cold at around 55, but I was able to bring 2 rat reds on the kayak.  Both were caught on a 1/8oz jighead and
