Gear Time

Posted On February 07, 2012
Hi Ya folks, It's been a while.  I got lost for a bit. Spring is hopefully just around the corner. We all know what that means. Time to dig in and get out your gear and see what you need or what you don't need or should I say what wasn't productive last year.  We have to set aside, not throw or give away but set aside the few that just didn't make the cut if you will.. You know those lures that looked really good when you checked them out in the store last year. The one that looked so good but never or very rarely caught any thing other than an old pickerel. Yeah those. We have to make room for all the new and improved lures that are coming out.
I don't know about you but I cleaned a bunch out last year and when I opened my tackle box up , nope no room for the new stuff I have been picking up threw the winter. So now there are choices to be made. I'm making a trip to BPS in a month. Do I buy yet another container or two or do I take another long look at what I have and set aside more of the old/new stuff. There is no doubt I will be bringing back more than a few of the new lures. The ones that have just come out. The ones that will hit the market in the next four weeks. The ones I have to have in order to catch the monster. Yes new lure boxes . After all I'll need something to store the old lures I'm setting aside. Can't just leave them lying on the work bench.  Excellent , that problem solved.
I'm looking at a new rod and two new reels this year. Here I go again what to leave in the rod rack . I said I was going to down size in this department this year. Six rods on the front deck and two out back. Sounds right doesn't it. Heck my buddy doesn't need to bring more than five no four rods. Anyway most of my rods are getting up there. I noticed the ceramic missing in the eye of my worm rod. That alone screams new rod. Whats a new rod if you don't have a new reel to go with it.. I know ! My son ,God bless him bought me a beautiful rod last year and I love it. This is one of the reasons for a new reel. Makes since right. Of course it does.. New reel for the rod I got last year and of course a  new reel for the rod I'm getting this year.  So back to my problem. To many rods. What should I leave behind , What do I take.  I have 17 or 18 rods . In the boat there has to be at least 6 baitcasters. That leaves 2 spinning rods. I think that will work. I hope that will work.
My wife says I have a problem. I told her I do. I need a bigger boat. What do you think ?
I am so looking forward to this season. April 1st can not come soon enough.
Fellow anglers , Bass fishing buddies I hope you have more success than I at finding a place for the new/old tackle  that you going to need to slay the giant this year.

I really diislike winter

It's been awhile since I have been on here. Twice my blogs got messed up. I guess you have heard enough about fall fishing anyway. Winter will soon be upon us . This is always a very sad time of year for me. Everything has to come out of the boat. Rods, reels , Tackle boxes Nets and tools all put away. The boat has to be winterized and wrapped.. At the end of this year I had spun my hub. How I

Week End Started Out Good,Ended Not So Good

Hurricanes coming, Irene is on her way.One day to fish as Sunday is going to be a wash. Breakfast in bed. What a great way to start the day. Boat hooked up and out the door by 7:15am. Not bad for this old fool. On the water by 7:45am. Looking around I see only one other bass boat at the ramp. Excellent. I made a run to the end of the lake. This area has some good top water action. Got my

Just Blogging

Well it's 4:00 o'clock on Wednesday. I'm at work, sitting here thinking about the Packet I got from WFN.  Sweet ! Nice T shirt , hat, boat key chain and decals. I got them for joining and blogging on the WFN network site. Never thought I would be doing that. I think it's kind of fun writing and letting people know how I did during a week end of fishing.   Hopefully I will get
