Friday afternoon pond outing...

Posted On February 07, 2012
Hey guys, I had the fishing fever this past Friday, so I went down to a local pond to try my luck. Water clearity was maybe 2 feet, water temp was in the low to mid 50's and the buck bass were cruising the banks. Normally this time of year I start out with what I call a pre-pre spawn pattern witch usually consist of lipless cranks and jigs around deeper structure. Today was no exception, but I never got bit. As most guys from the southeast (South Carolina) love to do, I started beating the banks just to see if anything had started moving in. I started out by throwing a SWAG JIGS spinnerbait parallel with the bank anywhere between 5 yds to 20 yds off the bank. I would make 5 or 6 casts with it and I would follow that up with basically the same cast but using a zoom brush hog (june bug). It took a while, but I finally came across some feeding bass in the most shallow part of the whole pond. I never really caught anything big, but the buck bass were locked in on any type of cover they could find along the banks. Hopefully, in the next week or two (if we do not have any crazy weather) those females should start cruising around. But this is the South, so it would be 60 degrees today and 30 degrees tomorrow, so I'm not banking on anything. Good luck, and God bless!

Post Spawn...

Location: Lake Wylie (NC/SC) Conditions: Wind-5-10, Cloudy early - blue bird skys late, Low (60) High (90) Water Clarity (clear to stained) We absolutley crushed them from 6:30 am until about 12:00. Most fish were still up shallow and we caught them on flukes, spinnerbaits, topwater and even caught a few around some docks with a senko. Some people say that post-spawn can be one of the

post spawn...

Hey guys, here in SC most of the area lakes are in the low 70's so there are some spawn as well as post spawn patterns that will play a factor in my upcoming tourney this Saturday. Personally, I'm going to target post spawners up until around lunch time or so and then try to find some big bedding fish to play with. I pretty much always have the same or similar way of attacking post spawners.

sight fishing...

Hey guys, sorry it's been so long. I've been fishing a few tourneys and doing a lot of fishing in general in the past weeks. Bed fishing is in full swing here in SC and I must admit, I've been learning alot from fishing from the back of the boat as a co-angler. I've learned new (to me) tips, tricks and techniques to help out when the bed fish arent wanting to play nice. One trick I learned really

Getting ready!

What's up folks?!?!  I'm getting ready for my first big tournament. It's still a week away, but I already pretty much have an idea of what kind of areas I'm going to be targeting. I checked the ten day forcast, and it looks like the highs will be in the high 60's to low 70's up until tournament day. Hopefully the weather man/woman is right because I feel like the bass will be crusing the

Co-Angler suggestions...

We are having some nasty weather down south right now. Tornados, hail storms, the whole 9 yards. Had plans to go try the alabama rig out this weekend, but it doesnt look like the weather will let me. I have a pretty big tournament coming up this month, so I may re-organize all of my tackle and try to down size a bit being that I'm fishing as a co-angler, which brings me to my question. Are there
