While out fishing with Queen Charlotte Lodge guide, Derek Poitras, Fishing Buddies Stephen Mason and Chris Lewis engaged in a double header with a nice 31 pounder for Stephen and a new Lodge Record for Chris!
Derek and the guys barely got their lines in the water while fishing along the kelp just east of Klashwun Point when both rods went off. Chris was still playing his fish while Stephen landed his nice fish. Chris' fish was putting on quite the show, breaking the surface just enough to hint that this was no ordinary salmon. After the half hour battle Derek slipped the net under the silver beauty and carefully lifted the large fish into the boat.
Fishmaster, Keith Burdett assisted with the measurements (51.5" length X 35.0" girth for a score of 84.12 pounds) and snapped some pictures. This was a beautiful female without a blemish on her, a perfect specimen.
Derek spent 15 minutes reviving the fish before releasing her. The anglers on board shared a celebratory drink as the big beautiful Chinook crested 30 feet from the boat, flashed her tail and went off on her way maybe to be caught by another QCL guest on another trip.
Unfortunatly the QCL film crew wasn't on hand so this beauty of a fish won't be a TV Star but to see some of the other amazing fish guests have caught tune into WFN Fridays at 7:00pm ET / 4:00pm PT.
