After arriving in
Houston and driving up to Conroe, Texas for the Toyota Texas Bass
Classic, I could swear that the great State of Texas and I were at
arms.... for the 3rd straight trip to one of my favourite States, I was
greeted with temperatures rivalling my home town... and please remember
that I live in Canada!
The TTBC event had an exhibition expo along with the championship tournament, emceed by my good friend Dave Mercer, Host of Dave Mercer’s Facts of Fishing
and emcee of the BASS Elite series, featuring top qualifying pros from
the FLW and BASS but also showcased a concert each of the 3 nights that
brought both fishing and country music fans out for the day and WFN set
up a booth to spread the news about our launch on Xfinity, a part of Comcast in the Houston area.
Over the 4 days we were in
town we had a chance to meet up with a bunch of great people (did I
mention that I adore Texans and their hospitality?) and great companies
as well as fellow shows that are on WFN like Oakley Big Bass Tour which is expanding again this year to 10 tour stops. The group from Trokar were
right beside us showing off their new hooks for the 2012 season which
included the new Trokar Trebles, Bowden Marine was present with the new BassCat Margay
and Eyra models and aside from all this I had a chance to do what
fishermen love to do... talk fishing to folks from all areas and all
fishing backgrounds... coastal Saltwater, both inshore and offshore,
bass fishing and everything in between... it would be very hard to argue
the enthusiasm Texans have for this great pastime and sport.
During that time, we also had a chance to speak with many Texans who had or knew of WFN through Dish Network and some who were equally excited to see our launch on xfinity / Comcast.
The passion of people who fish and their desire to watch quality
fishing programs is alive and well and we are super excited to be
expanding in Texas!
Hopefully I will be back in
the State soon and it will decide to grace me with the awesome weather
it normally has, I will not be homesick for our Canadian climate while I
am enjoying the phenomenal fisheries available, I PROMISE!
