STORIES TOURNAMENT NEWS Posted Jan 17, 2015 By: SkipperMark McMillan Leads the Southern Open KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Brandon McMillan of Clewiston, Fla, took the lead in day 2 of the Southern Open moving from third to first with a 38 lb. 8 oz. two day total. The bass of the Kissimmee chain upset the leader board on day two proving that they were as unstable as the weather has been in Florida the last two days. Cold, rain, win and sun, the anglers of the open experienced everything except the large limits expected of this fishery. Angler Todd Auten of South Carolina moved up from thirteenth to second with his 36-8 total, Bobby Lane Jr. advanced from eighteenth to third with 34-13 for two days and Gam Gerald Swindle set the hook enough times to move from seventeenth to fifth with his addition to the two day total equaling 34 lbs and 3 oz. On the co-angler side, local angler Alan Agnoli weighed in a three bass limit weighing an amazing 17 lbs. and 11pz. to take the lead with a two day total of 24 lbs.15 oz. The big bass of the event came from Lake Kissimmee when the majority of the anglers gave up fishing time for locking and running. Tempers flaired as an altercation between Keith Poche and Ish Monroe when Poche bumped Monroe’s boat in the lock. A scuffle broke out and both anglers ended up in the water. According to eyewitnesses, other competitors fished Monroe and Poche out of the water. Ish Monroe was arrested on charges of Battery after the weigh in according to Osceola County Sheriffs Department. B.A.S.S, Tournament officials are investigating the incident. The top twenty anglers will launch at 7 a.m. ET at Big Toho Marina with Saturday’s final weigh-in being held at the Bass Pro Shops in Orlando at 4 p.m. For more details visit: www.bassmaster.com.
