IGFA World Record Catches - Pickerel, Barramundi, Red Grouper

The IGFA has released another list of potential world record catches. These outstanding fish are up for review for various line, age and length categories.

First on the list is Viktor Sergeev, he battled a 41lbs 6oz catla for 20 minutes while fishing in Ratchaburi, Thailand. Sergeev was using rice husk flour as bait to tempt this catch. This catla is 82 cm long and is a possible all-tackle record.

A second potential all-tackle from Thailand belongs to Jean-Francois Helias and the labeo barbatulus he caught in Sanom. Helias' catch weighed in at 4lbs 10oz and measured 47cm long and, like Sergeev, this fish was caught using rice husk flour.

Peter F. Binaski caught two salmon in WFN's Ultimate Fishing Town 2010, Port Alberni, for potential all-tackle length records. Binaski landed the first salmon after a seven minute battle using a pink leech on October 28th, the catch measured 65 cm. The second salmon measured 70cm; it was caught the next day using a pink clouser after a nine minute fight.

On January 10th Julia Grace Ketner caught this 3lbs 13oz pickerel. This cutie used a live minnow and landed her catch after only three minutes while out fishing on Deep Pond in New York for a potential smallfry record.

The angler that caught this 62lbs 6oz barramundi on a ZMan Swimmer has high hopes that this fish will qualify for the 12lb line class record. Mark Hope battled the 127.5 cm long fish on Lake Tinaroo, Australia, for 15 minutes.

The second line class potential record hopeful is Christopher J. Hudson. His 22lbs 8oz red grouper is up for the male 16lb line class record. Using a Guppy Bucktail Jig, Hudson landed the grouper in five minutes while fishing in the Bahamas.
