The IGFA has just released a brand new batch of recently approved world record catches. Here are a few highlights:
Brett Sinclair was fishing in Damier, Australia on Aug. 1 when he landed this monster tiger shark. The beast weighed in at 574 lbs, 8 oz, and measured in at 274 cm. It was caught using golden trevally, and has been officially deemed the new M-06 kg (12 lb) record.
On Aug. 13, Frank Bluch caught this beautiful Arctic char while fishing in Nunavut’s Tree River. It weighed in at 21 lbs, 4 oz, and measured in at 96.52 cm. Bluch used dumbell strip tease as bait, and the fish is now recognized as the world record in the tippet 02 kg (4 lb) line class.
Mari Kitagawa landed this record Japanese (Suzuki) seabass on Aug. 20 while fishing off the coast of Yokohama, Japan. It weighed in at 4 lbs, 3 oz, and measured 57.5 cm. It was caught using a streamer, and is the world record in the tippet W-04 kg (8 lb) line class.
This beautiful barramundi was caught on Aug. 24 by Mark Hope while he was fishing in Australia’s Lake Tinaroo. It weighed in at 55 lbs, 8 oz, and measured 116 cm. It was caught using a Zman 6-inch swimmer, and is the new record in the 02 kg (4 lb) line class.
Finally, Thane Morgan landed this tarpon on Oct. 13 while fishing in Florida Bay. It weighed in at 88 lbs and measured 170.18 cm. The fish was caught using a mullet fly, and is the record in the tippet M-03 kg (6 lb) line class.
