GEAR OTHER COOL STUFF Posted Jan 30, 2018 By: Gary Elliott, Ambassador Chef'sChoice Marine Sharpening Station 710 Keep your scissors and knives razor sharp with the Marine Sharpening Station 710 by Chef'sChoice Chef'sChoice Marine Sharpening Station 710 (Gary Elliot photo) I recently had the pleasure of testing the Chef’sChoice Marine Sharpening Station 710. Reviewing gear and knives like I do, I am always surprised when I order a new knife and it arrives already dull. I personally like to keep my scissors and knives razor sharp, so I was excited to try this sharpening station for myself. Over the last several weeks I have put the Marine Sharpening Station to the test. I first used the Marine Sharpening Station by sharpening all the fillet knives in my house, and paid attention to how sharp the edges had become. After running my fillet knives through the sharpener and getting the burrs off, I could slice through meat with ease. I was so pleased with the product, I decided to run my hunting knives through the sharpening station. As a hunter, I am very particular about how I take care of my hunting knives. After using the sharpening station, the knives were razor sharp and smooth when cutting. The station’s diamond abrasives puts a 20-degree angle on your knives, allowing for the best angle to create a razor sharp edge. The Marine Sharpening Station 710 creates a perfect angle for sharpening. (Gary Elliot photo) The Marine Sharpening Station 710 also features a scissor and hook sharpener which stores conveniently under the unit. I never knew what a difference using a scissor sharpener could make. I can now start a cut and slide through the paper without hardly working the scissors. I personally do not sharpen my fishing hooks, but found the hook sharpener to be easy to use and worked well. With its IPX-4 rating, clean-up is as easy as spraying the unit off with water. The sharpening station comes with a car adapter, allowing you to sharpen fillet and hunting knives while out in the field or at camp. Overall, I have found this unit to be an awesome choice for not only the outdoors enthusiast, but for the general home user as well. The product is durable and well built, and I expect it to last for many years to come. The price for this unit is $129.99 and it is great for sharpening knives, scissors, hooks and even more.
