February can be a month for hibernating, but organizers of the Bridgenorth Winter Panfish Festival are hoping to lure families out to Bell Rotary Park on Chemong Lake in Bridgenorth for some free family fun. The ice fishing festival is taking place on Saturday, February 18 and coincides with Ontario Family Fishing Weekend, which runs from Friday through the provincial Family Day holiday on February 20.
Participants are encouraged to dress warmly. Admission is free and fishing gear and bait is provided, as well as a free shuttle service between the lake and designated parking. There are prizes for all youth participants, and food and drinks are available. The event gets underway at 10am and runs until 4pm.
